Dude for President

NEWS

Sunday, September 25th-
Former Metallica roadie, author of the “original” Port Huron Statement and original member of the Seattle Seven, Jeffrey “The Dude” Lebowski this afternoon announced he was forming a presidential exploratory committee.
Dude is planning to open his campaign headquarters Saturday, November 12th in Buffalo – inside the same classic bowling alley the last Buffalo Lebowski Festival was based, Voelker's Bowling Center.

Monday, September 26th-

On Monday evening, as part of a multi-cross Buffalo awareness campaign for Presidential hopeful Jeffrey “The Dude” Lebowski, the classic bowling alley Voelker’s became an unlikely ground zero for Buffalo Lebowski Festival’s Achiever faithful.  A crowd of about 2, who had paid nothing, zip, zero, zilch to rub elbows and drink beverages from plastic cups, thronged the Alley to hear the Dude preview his 2012 campaign stump speech.
They even got to witness him be heckled by a sweaty, bearded man who called the Duder in chief “an Nihilist” before being dragged out by Sobchak security to a chorus of “Four more years!” by the crowd.

Saturday, October 08, 2011-

With the highpoint of His Royal Dudenesses presidential campaign — Dudes win at this summer’s Achievers Straw Poll — far behind him, Lebowski appears to have settled on a new message for his bid for the BLF Bums nomination, and it’s all about not going over the line.

In Dudes remarks Friday night at Voelker Lanes in Downtown Black Rock, Buffalo, NY, Lebowski stretched out his allotted 15 minutes ...of speaking time to more than 60 minutes, telling the crowd not once, not twice but more than a dozen times: “This aggression will not stand.”

“This is not the election to choose a moderate or a compromise candidate,” the BLF BUMS Presidential hopeful told the socially awkward audience, repeating a theme he has been using on the campaign trail — especially in Buffalo, NY — a place that  El Duderino’s campaign aides have said is a must-win.

“As your president, I want you to know I have no plans, none at all.  I won’t have any plans for a Buffalo Lebowski Festival that’s anything less than the world’s best.  I won’t settle for anything less than standing up for the Bums, for our Achievers, for the issue of getting my rug back.  I won’t stand up for anything less than the cause of not rolling on Shabbos, the very birthright that the founders put everything on the line to give to us. I won’t settle,” Dude said. “And tonight I’m calling on all of you BLF BUMS as well.  Don’t settle or do settle it really does not matter!”

It was bound to happen sooner or later.

Presidential hopeful Jeffrey “The Dude” Lebowski, who was questioned repeatedly about his Dudeism faith during his 2008 presidential bid, finds his religion under attack again in the 2012 BLF BUM race.

On Sunday, Jesus Quintana, a senior bowler at Holly Star Lanes near Santa Monica who supports former President Richard Milhous Nixon for his bowling prowess..., called Dudeism a “cult” in remarks to reporters.

When Dude took the stage, he said Theodore Donald Karabotsos “was throwing rocks tonight” with his remarks in which he called Jesus Quintana a “pervert”.

(Buffalo, NY)  - Tempers flared anew between the warring camps of presidential candidates Jeffrey “The Dude” Lebowski and Jackie Treehorn based on dueling videos, a sign of their deep-seated antipathy toward each other.
The tensions are reflective of the competing candidacies of two starkly different politicians: Treehorn the wealthy former business executive, and Lebowski the slacker with a swagger.
As evidenced by their finger-pointing confrontation at a very confusing debate on Tuesday, there are no warm fuzzy feelings between the two. They talked over each other and when Treehorn put his hand on Lebowski shoulder during one tense exchange, Lebowski glared in concern at his Caucasian.
The Treehorn campaign released a video late on Wednesday entitled "Gutter balls?".
It includes Lebowski comments from debates when he appears to be struggling to string a sentence together.
In return, the Lebowski side launched a video called “Treats Objects Like Women!" that criticizes Treehorn for his new interactive erotic software.

The Dude will be continuing to work the campaign fund-raising trail a $30 per head Buffalo, NY fundraiser is set for Saturday, November 12, 10:30pm at Voelker's Bowling Center. The event is being hosted by the Buffalo Lebowski Festival Bums. For more info on El Duderino’s campaign, go to www.buffalolebowski.com.

The B.L.F. is held annually on the 2nd Saturday in November, which happens to fall on the 12th this year. We will again be holding the event at the Classic Bowling Center, Voelker Lanes.  We would love it if fellow Achievers came and gave us notes.

The event takes place annually on the 2nd Saturday of November, at one of Buffalo, New York’s many classic bowling alleys.  The event includes Beverages, Executive Bowling (including shoe rentals), Achievers Costume Extravaganza, His Royal Dudeness Trivia Contest, The I'm Throwing Rocks Tonight "Show", and of course ultra fantastic prizes/giveaways.

The inaugural B.L.F. was held at Voelker Lanes on the 8th of November, 2008.

What is the difference from the Buffalo Lebowski Festival and other Lebowski parties or Festivals?
The big twist is that B.L.F is not a moneymaking venture.  We here at BLF HQ really have no interest in making a profit.  Remember, all the Dude really wanted was his rug back!  Therefore, in the spirit of the Dude himself if any money is left over, a portion of those proceeds is donated to a charity and the rest goes towards the next event.  So, for around $30, any Achiever is able to enter a world of Lebowski and drink, bowl, meet new people, escape reality, and give back to your community.
The first year BLF HQ members selected the American Red Cross Grater Buffalo Chapter to be the recipient of our donation.  Each year BLF will choose a new group that will receive the B.L.F. Achievers donation.

The Buffalo Lebowski Festival has been a labor of love for all involved.
We very much enjoyed working on creating an event that we now believe has the foundation to grow into something spectacular.  It is our personal belief and hope that this event will become a major/minor tourist attraction in the future for Buffalo, New York.  Thank you to all the Achievers that traveled from across America to make B.L.F. such a success!
We knew that an event like this would work in Buffalo.  The Queen city has a progressively thinking population that is open to new ideas.  The community is constantly willing to try something new and support creativity.  Because this community is so open to new and expressive ideas is exactly why B.L.F. will continue to succeed and grow.  We are really looking forward to the next BLF Bums event to see how all our work pays off.
